We love featuring our community. Whether it's a local business, creator, our team or one of our members, we want to give them some love. This week's feature is a student shout-out, Den member, Mandi!
Meet Mandi, (IG: @blyssenbeauty). You may already know her via her knowledge around Human Design. She's hosted a couple workshops at the studio and has one coming up called Human Design for Parents. Talk about seeing someone find their passion. Mandi's eyes light up when you mention anything about Human Design. We asked her a few questions, here’s what he had to say:
WL: First things first. What animal do you resonate with more, Wolf or Lion? Tell us why.
M: I'd say wolf since I'm more of a dog person haha. There is something powerful yet mysterious about a wolf that draws me in. Plus I'm more of a howler 🤣
WL: What brought you to Wolf & Lion, and what made you stay?
M: I came to Wolf & Lion for the community. As a mom, it's been hard to make time to exercise and be with friends. I get that and more with Wolf & Lion. Yoga isn't a strength of mine, and I've always felt welcomed and supported no matter what class I take.
WL: What's your favorite thing about the Wolf & Lion community?
M: I love the people and the vibe. Everyone I meet feels like an instant friend.
WL: What inspires you most, on and off the mat?
M: People who are truly themselves and don't care what others think.
WL: How has your practice changed since joining Wolf & Lion?
M: I've gained strength, flexibility, and a sense of comfort. Yoga helps restore a sense of balance in my crazy day without feeling anxious or self-conscious.
WL: Where is your favorite place to eat in San Diego, what do you order?
M: I love food, so it's hard to pick just one place. Yakitori Taisho is one of my favorite spots. A typical order would be raw octopus w/ wasabi, chicken wings, pork belly shiso leaf, beef with daikon radish, bacon wrapped asparagus, & quail eggs.
WL: What's one piece of advice you'd give to someone just starting their practice?
M: Do what feels right for you. You can often increase or decrease the difficulty of each pose, so just feel through it in the moment.
WL: Coffee or matcha, and where is your favorite place to get it?
M: I like matcha and I like plants, so Selva Coffee House is a nice spot.
WL: What's something people would be surprised to learn about you?
M: I can some how function (well) off very little sleep and I don't drink coffee or caffeine.
WL: What song instantly puts you in a good mood?
M: G6 or airplane
WL: If you could describe your Wolf & Lion experience in three words, what would they be?
M: Authentic, community, supportive
