Meet the Pack: Flannery Nelson

Meet the Pack: We asked our pack of instructors 10 questions to get to know them a bit more, this is what Flannery Nelson had to say. (Note: if you already saw this on IG, this post has all 10 answers vs the shorter version on IG).
WL: What animal medicine to resonate with most and why?
F: I don’t know if this is animal medicine but hummingbirds are my little spirit animal because they often show up for me as signs or spiritual messengers.
WL: What was the first thing you wanted to be when you grew up?
F: I don’t remember because I wanted to be so many things growing up! One of the first might have been a writer though.
WL: If you could have one super power what would it be?
F: Teleportation so I could easily travel places for just a day at a time.
WL: What’s your favorite place to eat in San Diego? What do you order?
F: I can never get enough of It’s Raw Poke in Ocean Beach. I take all my out of town visitors there.
WL: What’s one thing that can instantly make your day better?
F: Going for a walk.
WL: If you could live anywhere in the world other than San Diego, where would it be?
F: Too hard to choose! Maybe somewhere in Mexico, or Spain…
WL: What type of music/DJ/band gets you dancing?
F: Really any type of upbeat music will get me dancing (I love to dance) but I listen to lot of latin music and learned to salsa dance a few years ago.
WL: What is something that fills you with purpose?
F: Helping women to let go of diet mentality and build a healthier relationship with food.
WL: What are 3 personal rituals that you do everyday and why?
F: This question is making me realize I may not be very consistent with my rituals, but I always go for at least a short walk outside in the morning (makes me feel more grounded and helps set circadian rhythm) and I always have a coffee, or occasionally a matcha, mostly because it makes me happy. I have other rituals but not that I do every day.
WL: What is one quote or piece of positive advice you’d like to share?
F: “You do not have to be good.
You do not have to walk on your knees
for a hundred miles through the desert, repenting.
You only have to let the soft animal of your body
love what it loves.”
