We’ve all heard that how you start your day often sets the tone for the rest of the day. A strong morning routine can boost your mood, increase productivity, and help you feel more in control. Let’s dive in and explore 10 things to do before 10am that can set you up to thrive from the very start.


1. Wake Up Early Enough to Avoid Rushing

This is huge. It you wake up and you are immediately rushing, your nervous system is on chaotic mode from the very start. Giving yourself enough time in the morning reduces stress, which will trickle into the rest of your day. Waking up at least 1.5 to 2 hours before you need to be out of the house allows you to move through your routine calmly.


2. Drink a Glass of Water

After hours of sleep, your body is dehydrated. Drinking water first thing helps jumpstart your metabolism and refreshes your system. Keep one by the bed or a water bottle in your bathroom. Chug it upon rising.


3. Stretch or Do Light Exercise

Not only does moving your body wake up your muscles and improve circulation, it immediately boosts your energy. Even 5 to 10 minutes of lite stretching or yoga can boost mood.


4. Eat a Healthy Breakfast

Fuel your body with nutritious food. Make your first meal high in protein, fiber, and healthy fats to sustain energy levels until your next meal. That Starbucks breakfast sandwich just ain't going to cut it. Coffee or tea drinker? Make it at home, give yourself time to enjoy it. Linger for a bit before the next task.


5. Review Your Top Priorities for the Day

Look over your to-do list or calendar. Identify the 2-3 most important tasks to focus on and avoid feeling overwhelmed. To avoid having to look at your photo (# 6), before you go to bed, write them down, Then in the morning circle your top 3.


6. Avoid Checking Your Phone Immediately

Resist the urge to dive into emails or social media. Give yourself time to wake up fully before engaging with digital distractions. challenge yourself to go as long as you can before you have to look at your device.


7. Spend Time Outside

If possible, step outside for fresh air or natural light. Exposure to daylight helps regulate your internal clock and improves mood. Even just 5 minutes. If the sun isn't up yet when you're doing your routine, make a point to get outside and have some intentional sun time during your day.


8. Write in a Journal

Jotting down thoughts, goals, or things you’re grateful for can increase focus and positivity. Start simple, write down one goal for the day, one affermation, and one thing you are grateful for. Then add to it each day.


9. Set a Positive Intention

Decide on a mindset or attitude you want to carry through the day. This can help you stay grounded and focused. Bonus: write it in your journal.


10. Practice Deep Breathing
